Community Grants

West Bedlington Town Council has a Community Chest scheme which gives local voluntary groups and organisations a chance to bid for funding. This might be to help establish a new group, or to carry out extra activities that would otherwise be out of reach.

To qualify for an award, you must be able to clearly demonstrate that any funding will benefit the town and/or its residents. Applications will be considered to help with the following:

  • To purchase equipment or materials, full or in part
  • To purchase services, such as venue hire or transport that will enable group members to partake in trips regardless of their income
  • For running costs (but not wages) of a viable group that is experiencing a period of hardship
  • For the provision of recreational activities and facilities
  • For activities that raise the profile of the area

For more details and to apply, please download an application form (Microsoft Word or PDF).

As well as helping with community organisations, we also have a Pupils’ Fund which our four local primary schools can benefit from – St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, Meadowdale Primary Academy, West End Primary School and Whitley Memorial C of E Primary School. This is available to help fund a range of improvements that would otherwise be outside of a school’s allocated budget. To find out more, please contact us.
